A yoga journey that begins not with the body, but the brain
Beyond movement, yoga has helped me understand how the brain works and how we can work with it.
My practice has taught me how to regulate stress and reshape thought patterns. And now, I’m ready to share what I’ve learned with you.
Phase 1: THE RECKONINGFrom the outside, I had it all figured out
The brain, and how little we know about it, has always fascinated me. This lifelong interest drove me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience at Carleton University in Ottawa and, later, a Master’s at McGill University in Montreal.
On paper, things seemed fine. I attended conferences, gave talks, and even published my very first first-author paper. Deep down, I was struggling, working nearly 20-hour days and surviving on coffee and cigarettes. I barely slept and spent days in isolation, which resulted in a messy breakup and bipolar disorder diagnosis. When my paper was finally published, I felt no joy, no pride, no satisfaction.
That’s when I knew something was wrong.
Phase 2: THE REALIZATIONThe practice that changed everything
Around this time, I stumbled upon yoga on YouTube (shoutout to Yoga with Adriene), began practicing, and something inside shifted.
For the first time, I understood what it actually meant to rest and be in a parasympathetic state. From there, my love for yoga blossomed and, before long, I was teaching my own classes, which led me to breathwork and meditation, along with a renewed fascination for the science behind what was happening in my brain. I went back to McGill and started my PhD in Neuroscience to find out.
During my PhD, I spent hours in the lab conducting experiments while teaching yoga part-time. I began offering workshops that blended science and spirituality, sharing tools and resources with my students. I published two papers, presented my research publicly, and launched my podcast, Building Your Best Brain.
I successfully accomplished it all, even the demands of a PhD, without overextending myself and sacrificing my well-being.
Phase 3: THE REWIRINGHelping others manage stress
The people I met at these workshops shared that, even with the right tools and science, staying consistent was hard. Many didn’t stick with the practice long enough to see its effects. I wanted to design a better solution, one with staying power.
That’s what led me to neurofeedback. In 2025, I trained in neurofeedback meditation using an at-home EEG, a device that tracks brainwaves in real-time and pairs them with meditative music. With this training, I designed the four-month Fire & Rewire program to target the brain’s most stubborn stress circuits that many struggle with.
I’m now in my final year of my PhD, and have had the privilege of helping many incredible people rewire their brains and shift their mindsets.
I hope to help yours do the same.
